Tim Brown

EVP, Chief Legal Officer at Venerable

Tim joined Venerable in 2018 as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary overseeing all legal, regulatory, compliance, government affairs, and corporate governance matters.

Previously, Tim served as VP and Chief Counsel for Voya Financial where he oversaw support for mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, and finance, treasury, and insurance regulatory matters. Tim joined Voya Financial in 2002 and held a number of positions across the organization before being named VP and Chief Counsel in 2013. During his tenure, he led teams in the U.S., Latin America and South America that closed transactions with an aggregate value of over $40 billion, supported cross functional initiatives to bring new products to market, shaped the vision for and executed on critical regulatory strategy, and played a significant role on the leadership team that took Voya Financial public in 2013.

Tim began his legal career in private practice, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law matters, and corporate transactions at Greenberg Traurig, LLP and King & Spalding LLP, both in Atlanta, Georgia.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Federation of Iowa Insurers and previously served on the boards of Hands on Atlanta and the Hammonds House Museum. Tim received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee State University, cum laude and a J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the state bars of Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania (Limited In-House).
