Yan Poon

Yan Poon currently serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Venrock and Acting Chief Scientific Officer at Confluence Therapeutics, Inc. Previous roles include Vice President of Biology at Unity Biotechnology and Vice President of Research and Development at Sapphire Energy, where significant contributions were made to genome engineering and algal species for Green Crude Oil production. Additional experience includes various positions at Kythera Biopharmaceuticals and the California Institute of Technology, where research focused on bacterial mechanosensitive channels. Yan Poon holds a PhD in Biophysics and Chemistry from Caltech and undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
