Paul Young has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2008, they worked as a Student Analyst at FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants, Inc., where they underwent training in analytical techniques and completed two projects. Paul then joined Heriot-Watt University in 2010 as a PhD Student in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, focusing on the development of novel gold(I)-catalyzed reactions. After completing their PhD in 2014, they returned to FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants, Inc. as a REACh Analyst, responsible for analyzing and reporting chemical products according to EU legislation. In 2016, they transitioned to Johnson Matthey, where they held the positions of Development Chemist and Project Manager until 2022. Currently, they work as a Project Manager at Veranova, starting in June 2022.
Paul Young obtained their Master of Chemistry degree in Chemistry from Heriot-Watt University, which they completed from 2005 to 2010. Paul then pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry from the same university from 2010 to 2014. In addition to their formal education, Paul also obtained a certification as a STEM Ambassador, completing 15 hours of engagement in the 2019/2020 academic year. This certification was obtained from STEM Learning UK in March 2020.
