Don Christopher

EVP Engineering and CTO at Verasonics

Don Christopher has over 30 years of work experience in the engineering and technology field. Don began their career in 1988 as a Research Assistant at DRDC, followed by a Design Engineer role at the Paul Scherrer Institute in 1989. In 1996, they co-founded UBM Technologies and served as a Senior Partner. In 1997, they became a Principal Engineer at ATL Ultrasound, Philips Medical Systems. Don then joined Philips Healthcare in 2002, where they held various roles such as Senior Manager of Product Development, Senior Business Manager, and Product Development Project Manager. In 2012, they were appointed Vice President of Research and Development at Kona Medical, Inc. Don then moved to FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc. in 2016, where they were the Head of Project Management Office (PMO). In 2018, they joined Siemens Healthineers as the Senior Director and Head of Systems and Hardware Engineering. Most recently, in 2021, they became the Executive Vice President of Engineering and Chief-Technology Officer at Verasonics.

Don Christopher has an extensive educational background, beginning with a DiplEng in Engineering from Dalhousie University between 1984 and 1986. Don then obtained a BEng in Engineering Physics from the same university between 1986 and 1989. Following this, they attended the University of Toronto from 1989 to 1992, where they earned an MSc in Medical Biophysics. Finally, they completed their PhD in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto in 1997. Additionally, Don Christopher has obtained several certifications, including a Licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), a Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a Six-Sigma Green Belt Certification from Philips Medical Systems.
