Ryan Gilliam

Ryan Gilliam is the founder and director of Verdagy, a clean technology startup dedicated to redefining how chemicals are made. Prior to Verdagy, Ryan was the CEO and co-founder of Fortera Corporation, a venture capital firm that invests in technologies developed in the Americas and Europe that can help solve China’s and the developing world's greatest challenges in areas including energy & environment, food safety & supply, health & education, and sustainable manufacturing. Ryan has also served as the chairman of the board, CEO, and founder of Chemetry Corporation, a clean technology startup focused on lowering the energy requirement and CO2 footprint of the chemical industry while making these processes safer.

Ryan Gilliam has a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Materials Engineering, which they obtained in 2008. Theirthesis was on the Effect of Electrode Size on Electrocatalytic Activity. Ryan also has a B.A.Sc. from the University of Toronto in Materials Science & Engineering, which they obtained in 2004. Ryan graduated with Honours.
