Founder at Verida

Chris Were has a long history of founding and leading successful companies. Chris began their career in 2002 as a Programmer for The Event Shop. In 2005, they founded FeedTagger, an RSS aggregator with an emphasis on navigation by tags. In 2006, they founded Newsalerts, an online service providing email notifications when a company appears in any Australian newspaper, leading Australian financial website, or when the company makes an ASX announcement. The company was sold in 2007. In 2007, they became the CTO of Marketech, an online CFD broker, where they scoped features, managed the implementation and development of new software, and implemented existing Open Source software and productivity tools within the company. In 2009, they founded Mozzler Pty Ltd, an experimental real-time news search engine utilising Twitter which processes several terabytes of data per month. In 2010, they became the Director and CEO of Community Data Solutions and the IT Services for the International Association for Public Participation, providing technical assistance and consulting services to the IAP2 Federation and their affiliates across the globe. In 2015, they founded Mozzler Australia and Rappsio, the latter of which provides a whole framework, in the cloud, for building technology solutions for small / medium businesses. In 2019, they founded Verida.

Chris attended the University of Adelaide, where they studied Maths and Computer Science.
