Paul Alves

Paul Alves has over four years of professional experience. In 2020, they began working as a Software Engineer at VeriTread, where they assisted in resolving issues in Azure and IIS web servers, developed data visualization and GIS tools using Shiny, R, and Leaflet, developed C# REST APIs used by multiple third parties, developed Python scripts to automate tasks, and developed core web application functionality such as payment processing and user login. From 2016 to 2020, they worked as an Independent Contractor (Full Stack Web Developer) at Omicron Technologies, where they wrote production quality code used by administrators and teachers in Chicago Public Schools as well as within Ventra, the Regional Transportation Authority, and the City of Philadelphia, resolved issues and implemented new features in existing web applications, designed a mobile application and worked with SQL and REST APIs, and designed a REST API wrapper for ASP. In 2015, they worked as an Election Coordinator at the Chicago Board of Elections, where they set up and operated electronic voting equipment, worked in a small team to perform election day tasks, and assisted voters in casting their ballot.

Paul Alves completed their high school education at Lane Technical College Preparatory High School between 2011 and 2015. Paul then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of Chicago between 2015 and 2019. In 2019, they obtained a Certificate in Cyber Security from City Colleges of Chicago-Harold Washington College. Paul also holds additional certifications, including the Google IT Support Specialization from Coursera obtained in April 2020, the CompTIA Security+ ce Certification from CompTIA obtained in August 2019, and the Google IT Support Professional Certificate from Coursera.
