Rye Matthews is an experienced professional in the fields of timber framing and sustainable design. Currently serving as a Senior Timber Frame Designer & Draftsman at Vermont Frames since February 2020 and also as an Estimator & Project Manager, Rye has built a diverse career, including ownership of Earthen Frame Design since January 2017. Previously, Rye held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Northeast Hemp Commodities from September 2018 to January 2022 and served as Operations Manager at The Vermont Hemp Company between June 2016 and July 2018. Additionally, Rye contributed to Fiddlehead Construction as Site Foreman and Craftsman from June 2014 to June 2017. Educationally, Rye holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from the University of Vermont and has completed certificates in Permaculture Design from Prospect Rock Permaculture and Sustainable Building from Yestermorrow, with a focus on Eco Design.

Incorporated in 1976, Vermont Frames and Foam Laminates of Vermont began at the forefront of the Timber Frame Revival. Originally in a small shop in Hinesburg, VT we moved to our present location in beautiful Starksboro, VT in 1984. Having the indoor shop as well as outdoor sheds allows us to work year round.
