Matthew Brown

Matthew Brown has a diverse work experience starting from 2001 as a student engineer at Vodafone. Matthew then worked as a post-doctoral research associate and PhD researcher in computational physics/chemistry at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2008. In 2008, they became a scientific adviser on energy and climate change at the Department of Energy and Climate Change. From 2009 to 2011, Matthew was a team leader for climate change mitigation strategy at Defra. Matthew then served as the head of energy and climate change at the Confederation of British Industry from 2011 to 2013. Matthew was a member of the Energy Advisory Panel at the Energy Institute from 2013 to 2016. In 2014, they joined the U.S. Department of State as a fellow in the International Visitor Leadership Program. In 2015, Matthew co-founded Think Ahead - Apply your mind to mental health and served as a co-founder until 2021. Currently, Matthew is the Co-CEO of Verna, starting from July 2020.

Matthew Brown obtained their education from the University of Cambridge. From 2000 to 2004, they pursued a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Material and Mineral Sciences, earning a first-class MA and MSci. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2007, Matthew pursued a PhD in Computational Physics/Chemistry from the University of Cambridge.
