Rick Johnson

Rick Johnson, CMI, is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in indirect tax. Currently serving as a Senior Lead Tax Analyst at Vertex Inc. since July 2020, Rick Johnson acts as an indirect tax subject matter expert. Previously, Rick Johnson held the position of Director of Indirect Tax at Belk from April 2012 to July 2020, overseeing various tax functions including sales and use tax and property tax. Other notable roles include managerial positions at Limited Brands, KPMG, SALT Consultants, and Ernst & Young, focusing on sales and use taxes throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Rick Johnson began a career in tax as a Technical Assistant in the Statutory Compliance Department of Revenue for the State of Florida from 1987 to 1992. Rick Johnson holds a Master of Public Administration in Management & Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, both from Florida State University.
