Tom Makin

Tom Makin is an accomplished Software Engineering Manager at Vertical Aerospace since November 2021, where leadership of a diverse team focuses on electric flight innovations. As Co-Founder and CTO of NEATLINES LTD since June 2016, Tom has played a significant role in developing AdviceAid, an online platform aimed at reducing homelessness. Previous experience includes roles as Senior Software Engineer at Penfold and as Principal Software Engineer at TOKA®medtech, where Tom led the development of personalized surgical treatment platforms. Tom's earlier career involved significant contributions to software development, including complex geometry and user interface design at companies such as Tensys and Cognisess. Additionally, Tom has a background in structural engineering from Buro Happold and has achieved a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, following an MEng in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford.
