Thomas Binet is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in environmental economics and project evaluation. As the founder and director of BlueSeeds since January 2018, Thomas leads innovative initiatives in sustainable development. In parallel, Thomas has been the Directeur at Vertigo Lab since 2010, focusing on environmental economics and impact assessment. Previous roles include co-founder and director at fabaé from April 2021 to October 2022, Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth, and policy analyst positions at the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) and the OECD. Thomas holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Portsmouth and an Ingénieur agronome degree from AgroParisTech.

Vertigo is a consultancy specialized in environmental management. It works from local to international scale to develop innovative tool to reconnect environmental management with public policy and the economy. Recently, Vertigo has worked with national institutions to value the benefits of biodiversity conservation, undertake cost-benefit analyses, and develop conservation financial planning or payments for ecosystem services. Vertigo currently aims to extend these economic tools to the management of broader issues such as water management, agroecology, natural resource efficiency, new types of economy (such as functional or community-based economies).
