James Watts is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in technology and infrastructure management. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Via since June 2024, James focuses on developing scalable infrastructure within the Via Infrastructure, Scale and Reliability team. Previous roles include Director of Engineering at Google from October 2010 to April 2024, where significant contributions were made to unified UGC infrastructure and Google Drive as both site lead and software engineering manager. James began the professional journey at Juno Online Services and Vindigo, Inc., transitioning through various technical roles, and holds a BS/BA in Biology and Visual Arts from Brown University, as well as an MS in Computer Science from New York University.
