Christopher Payne is currently a Robotics Engineer at Viam, having previously worked as Lead Hardware Engineer and Robotics Engineer at the company for 1 year 8 months. Prior to joining Viam, Payne was a Research Associate at Harvard University, where they developed robotic devices for musculoskeletal tissue regeneration, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital, where they developed a pediatric heart valve using a bi-leaflet design with the capability to accommodate growth over time whilst remaining functional, and a novel surgical dissecting device for redo-sternotomy. Payne has also interned at Siemens and Rolls-Royce.
Christopher Payne has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Imperial College London in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from 2011 to 2015. Christopher also has a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London from 2004 to 2008.
