Bruce A. Young, Ph.D., is a scientist and business professional with over 25 years experience spanning the worlds of academia, industry, and investment. As a faculty member of the Chemistry Department of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Dr. Young taught a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and oversaw an active, federally funded research program. In addition, he was the department financial officer and served as Chairman of the Indiana Section of the American Chemical Society.
At Roche Diagnostics, Dr. Young oversaw the technology transfer of processes from R&D to Manufacturing. He later created a new Global Customer Support unit within the Quality division of Roche, where he directed three departments and was responsible for supporting Roche sites in over 50 countries worldwide. He was also responsible for various aspects of regulatory affairs, including FDA compliance and ISO requirements, and implemented a complete FDA validation program at Nimblegen, a 130-employee company acquired by Roche.
Since 2012, Dr. Young has been a full-time investor, actively trading options and futures contracts as well as investing in startups. He earned a Baccalaureate in Chemistry from Moravian College and a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of Kentucky, where he was inducted into the Sigma Xi Honorary Research Society. He then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Pennsylvania State University Chemistry Department.
