William Surles

William Surles has a diverse work experience ranging from data engineering roles to data analysis and research positions. William currently works at VideoAmp as a Principal Data Engineer, starting in October 2023. Prior to this, they worked at DigitalGlobe as a Senior Data Engineer from May 2018 to July 2021. William also has experience at Rally Software as a Senior Data Scientist and Product Data Scientist from 2014 to 2017. Before that, they held a Data Analyst position at Simple Energy from September 2012 to December 2013, and an Energy Data Analyst role at Tendril from June 2010 to August 2012. William also has research experience, working as a Research Assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder from June 2009 to May 2010, and as a National Science Foundation GK-12 Teaching Fellow from May 2008 to December 2009. William started their career as an Engineering Intern at Inergy Automotive Systems in 2005.

William Surles has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, which they obtained from 2002 to 2007. William also holds a Master's degree in Engineering, Building Systems from the University of Colorado Boulder, which they completed from 2008 to 2010. In terms of certifications, they have completed various courses and obtained certificates in data science, including the Python and R Career Track Certificates from DataCamp in 2017-2018 and the Data Science Specialization from Johns Hopkins University through Coursera in 2014. William has also obtained multiple certifications in Python and data analytics from DataCamp, including Introduction to Deep Learning in Python, Introduction to Network Analysis in Python, and School Budgeting with Machine Learning in Python, among others.
