Raj Acharya is currently a Program Director and James H. Rudy Professor at the National Science Foundation and Indiana University Bloomington, while also serving as an Adjunct Professor of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine since 2016. They have held various academic positions, including Professor and Chair at SUNYAB's CSE Department from 1999 to 2001, and have been a key figure in developing the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at Penn State University. Acharya has contributed to both research and administration, previously acting as Associate Vice President for Research for AI Innovation and Dean at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Their extensive experience also includes strategic advisory roles at VideoMining Corporation and research at prominent institutions such as GE and Thomson CSF. They received their education from the University of Minnesota/Mayo Medical School between 1981 and 1984.
