Gordon Mathew has extensive work experience in the field of thin films and metrology. Gordon started their career as a Lecturer at Heriot-Watt University from 1985 to 1990. Gordon then worked at OCLI and JDSU (formerly OCLI) from 1990 to 2005 as a Research Scientist and Manager, where they were involved in various projects such as the transfer of Electrochromic truck mirror technology and the development of Electrochromic window processes.
From 1999 to 2005, Gordon worked at JDSU as a Manager, leading a cross-divisional metrology group responsible for developing measurement methods for thin film devices. During this time, they managed a team of engineers and technicians working on projects related to coated molded optics, defect detection in high-performance mirrors, and color shift measurement of security inks.
Gordon then joined Solyndra in 2005, where they served as a Process Manager until 2011. In this role, they were responsible for the development of metrology for measuring key characteristics of thin film layers in photovoltaic structures. Gordon also worked on process improvement and panel power enhancement projects.
In 2011, Gordon joined View, Inc. as a Principal Scientist, where they continue to work in the field of thin films.
Gordon Mathew pursued their education at Heriot-Watt University, starting in 1977 and completing their Bsc (hons) degree in Physics with Modern Optics in 1980. Gordon further continued their studies at the same university and obtained a PhD in Physics with a specialization in Solid-state optical non-linearities from 1980 to 1984.
