Villa Hygge Design® is a residential interior design studio creating homes for the way people actually live.

Based in Newry, Maine and serving clients throughout New England and beyond, the studio specializes in designing new builds, transformative renovations, second homes, and hospitality-driven environments. Villa Hygge Design® is typically engaged before architectural plans are finalized, shaping layout, interior architecture, and material direction from the inside out.

Led by Founder and Principal Designer Therese Kelleher, the studio brings something rare to the design world: the sensibility of a gifted designer combined with the discipline of an executive who spent nearly three decades in global client-facing executive leadership roles, carrying full P&L responsibility, managing significant budgets, and delivering complex projects for demanding clients across international markets. Therese has a gift for hearing what clients truly want, often before they can articulate it themselves, and the operational rigor to deliver it without exception.

Villa Hygge Design® serves as the client's advocate and owner's representative from first conversation through final installation. Working alongside architects, builders, and trades, the studio protects the design vision at every stage while keeping projects moving with clarity and confidence. Clients who are building or reimagining significant homes, often remotely, trust Villa Hygge Design® to run the entire journey on their behalf.

The studio is intentionally built around an all-female team. Looking ahead, Villa Hygge Design® is developing a curated showroom that will serve as a sourcing space for clients and a creative platform for emerging women artists.

Rooted in Nordic principles of restraint and calm, Villa Hygge Design® creates homes where architecture, interiors, and human connection come together with intention. At Villa Hygge Design®, this is known as Interiors Made for Living®.
