Greg Aker

VP of Engineering at Vinli

Greg Aker has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Greg started their career at Delta Systems as a Developer from February 2009 to October 2009. Greg then worked at EllisLab as a Software Engineer from October 2009 to July 2011. During this time, they gained experience in Python and Javascript and developed server backup strategies. From October 2011 to October 2014, Greg worked at nGen Works as a Software Engineer, where they wrote test-driven applications and streamlined server provisioning using SaltStack.

In 2007, Greg started their own freelance web development business, where they built custom test-driven applications in Python and PHP and provided dev-ops support on various platforms. Greg continued freelancing until June 2015.

In 2009, Greg also joined EngineHosting/Arcustech as a Sr. Systems Administrator, where they performed Ubuntu and Red Hat systems administration, developed hosting control panels, and implemented new hosting platforms. Greg also trained support staff in new technologies and implemented a local balanced multi-tenant Content Delivery Network (CDN) using Nginx nodes.

Most recently, Greg worked at Vinli Inc since June 2015 as the VP of Engineering. Here, they managed the Engineering, DevOps, and QA teams and played a key role in building a robust platform for displaying and analyzing data collected from a car's OBD-II port. Under their leadership, Vinli received the Frost & Sullivan Best Practice award for its developer and application ecosystem.

Greg Aker obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 2002.
