Stephen Leanos

Stephen Leanos has extensive work experience in the legal field. Stephen is currently serving as the Senior Director of Legal at Vir Biotechnology, Inc. Prior to this, they held roles at various prestigious organizations. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as the Deputy General Counsel at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where they provided legal counsel and advice on global compliance, ethics, privacy, and complex commercial contracts, among other responsibilities. Before that, they served as the Associate General Counsel at the same foundation from 2012 to 2019, where they counseled operations teams across multiple regions.

Stephen also has experience at NetApp, where they worked as the Director of Global Compliance & Employment Law in 2012. In this role, they led a global team and was responsible for managing employment and compliance matters. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Director & Associate General Counsel at HGST, a Western Digital brand, from 2005 to 2012. In this position, they managed various legal functions, including mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions, intellectual property, litigation, compliance, and employment law.
