Deon Scheppel

Deon Scheppel is an accomplished professional in the field of training and development, currently serving as the Head of Product Research & Development at Virgin Active South Africa since August 2022. In this role, Deon drives the comprehensive Academy program focused on recruitment, onboarding, career progression, and training impact review. Prior experience includes serving as the National Product Training Manager at Virgin Active from November 2014 to August 2022, where Deon developed a Fitness Instructor Academy, and as the Training & Development Manager at The London Clinic from July 2005 to December 2014, balancing operational and strategic responsibilities. Deon also held the role of Fitness Manager at Virgin Active from March 2003 to June 2005, managing staff and operations, and began a career in academia as a Lecturer on sports management and psychology from 2001 to 2004. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Westminster, various certifications in project management and training practice, and degrees in psychology and human movement studies from Stellenbosch University.
