Daniel O'Brien serves as the Chief Security Officer for Virtu Financial since September 2020, focusing on developing and executing security and risk management programs. Previously, O'Brien held the position of Deputy Chief of Detectives at the State of New Jersey's Office of the Attorney General, and also served as Deputy Director and Chief of Security for the New Jersey Lottery, overseeing security and cybersecurity for significant revenues and retail locations. O'Brien's law enforcement background includes roles as a Lieutenant and Detective with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice, investigating serious crimes, as well as serving as a Task Force Officer with the FBI on a public corruption task force. O'Brien began a career in accounting at Commodities Corporation and the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Rhode Island.
