Derek Melvin has over 17 years of experience in software engineering. Derek began their career in 2002 as an IT Specialist at the USGS, where they developed a Swing user interface to help present field collected data. In 2005, they joined IBM Global Services as a Software Engineering Consultant, working on a variety of internal and external development projects. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin, where they created a computer based training framework/application developed using ActionScript 3 and developed user interfaces using Java's Swing API. From 2010 to 2014, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Next Wave Logistics, where they developed game changing web applications and integrated applications with existing web service API's and developed new RESTful API's. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Full Stack Software Engineer at 1to1 Card - An SVM Company, where they helped redesign and build high volume order processing applications, built internal support tools to facilitate client and order administration, and worked with the latest web technologies to enhance the customer experience. From 2018 to 2019, they were a Senior Full Stack Engineer at LOADED, where they developed a game that gained over 300,000+ downloads and reached the top of the Google Play store in its category, built the SendEOS application, and integrated applications with various API's, SDKs, advertisement providers, and 3rd party tools. Since 2019, they have been a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Virtual Facility, Inc.

Derek Melvin received a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Colorado Denver between 2001 and 2004.
