Jose Kozan has over 30 years of experience in the fields of architecture, design, and interactive media. Jose began their career in 1986 as the Principal of KZN Arquitetura. In 2003, they joined the University of Cincinnati - DAAP as an Adjunct Professor and Research Associate. In 2014, they became the Academic Department Director of Design at The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati. In 2021, they began their current position as a Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, teaching studios and team-taught courses on Emerging Technologies including Augmented Reality (AR), Social AR, Storytelling with Extended Reality (XR) and mobile-driven interaction with Virtual Environments. In 2010, they co-founded Virtual Grounds Interactive, LLC, a XR content development studio dedicated to providing unique 2D/3D visualization solutions to cultural heritage institutions, cultural resource management, historical sites, museums and traveling exhibits.
Jose Kozan obtained a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from Universidade Federal do Paraná in 1984, majoring in Architecture and Urban Planning. Jose then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Architecture (M.S.Arch) from the University of Cincinnati in 2004, specializing in Virtual Heritage.
