Mike Maruca

Mike Maruca has a diverse work experience in the field of energy and law. Mike'smost recent position is as the Assistant Chief Counsel and Program co-Coordinator for the Tribal Energy Finance Program at DOE Loan Programs Office. In this role, they oversee the lending authority for energy projects for sovereign Indian tribes and tribal energy development organizations.

Prior to this, Mike worked as a Project Development Consultant at Virunga Power, where they provided expertise in project development and financing. Mike also served as an Attorney-Advisor at ARPA-E, advising on legal and policy issues related to next-generation energy technologies.

Mike has also worked at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as an Associate, focusing on energy and infrastructure transactions. Mike gained experience in solar, wind, storage, and nuclear energy corporate transactions. Additionally, they worked on pro bono projects related to voter protection.

Before joining Orrick, Mike interned at Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), where they gained insight into the energy industry. Mike also interned at Virunga Power as a Strategy and Legal Intern, assisting with project development and market analysis.

Furthermore, Mike served as a Law Clerk at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and as a Legal Intern at New Markets Lab. Mike began their career as a Junior Policy Analyst at OECD - OCDE.

Mike Maruca has an extensive education history. Mike obtained a J.D., magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. Mike also pursued a Financing and Deploying Clean Energy Certificate at Yale University from 2022 to 2023.

Before these achievements, they earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Yale University and completed their high school education at Phillips Exeter Academy. Mike also engaged in a Study Abroad program at The American University in Cairo, focusing on Arabic & Islamic Philosophy.
