Eric Malafeew has over 25 years of experience in the tech industry. Eric began their career in 1991 as a Research Fellow at Charles Stark Draper Lab, where they were responsible for sensor integration and control systems for Lunar and Mars prototype rovers on NASA grants. Eric then moved to Lockheed Martin in 1994 as a Simulation Engineer, where they coded networked cockpit and dynamics simulations of tanks, jets, and helicopters, and created ModStealth, a DIS after-action review application, and PerSim, a desktop multi-vehicle simulation, layered on the ModSAF codebase. In 1996, they became a Game Engineer at Kaon Interactive, and in 1997, they moved to MBL Research as a Lead Engineer. In 2000, they joined Harmonix Music Systems as the Chief Architect and Engineering Lead. Finally, in 2015, they co-founded and became the CTO of VirZOOM, Inc., where they led an experienced team of game and sensor developers to revolutionize exercise through the power of VR. Eric also developed a method to freely navigate large virtual worlds by pedaling and steering on a stationary bike, with a great reduction in the causes of simulation sickness.
Eric Malafeew attended Virginia Tech from 1987 to 1991 where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Eric then went on to Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1991 to 1993, where they earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
