Michael Harris began their career in 2006 when they worked at Qwest as a CAD Drafter. Here, they used AutoCAD to draw detailed work diagrams for technicians and an internal GIS/CAD/planning tool for designing outside plant projects from start to finish. In 2008, Michael was an Assistant System Administrator at Genetic Testing Laboratories where they were responsible for creating and maintaining documentation of the network and IT policies and procedures, providing IT support to other employees, implementing and maintaining network monitoring and security, and creating software to improve business processes. In 2009, Michael became a GK12 Fellow at New Mexico State University. In this role, they worked with a partner teacher to develop and publish science lessons for 8th grade students, conducted surveys of student feedback, put together posters, and attended conferences to promote the work they were doing. Michael also worked with other graduate students and professors to develop concepts of "computational thinking" for inclusion in a research paper. Finally, in 2012, Michael co-founded Visgence Inc. where they serve as President and lead developer on several projects. Michael is primarily responsible for management of customer software and networking projects, general project and business management, and field deployments of systems.
Michael Harris obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from New Mexico State University between 2006 and 2010. Michael then continued their education at the same university, earning a Master's Degree in Computer Science between 2010 and 2013. In January 2017, they obtained a Competent Tower Climber certification from Safety One Training International Inc.
