Daniel Chao

Daniel Chao is an experienced professional with a diverse work background in the medical field. Daniel recently joined The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson as a Senior Director and Clinical Leader in Early Development and Translational Medicine. Prior to this, Daniel served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. Daniel also co-founded Visgenx, Inc, a preclinical stage company that focuses on developing therapeutics for dry macular degeneration. Before that, Daniel held the position of Chief Medical Officer at RecensMedical, where they were responsible for clinical development and led the design and execution of two prospective clinical trials. Daniel Chao has an extensive education history. Daniel received their B.S. degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating in 2001. Daniel then pursued further education at Stanford University School of Medicine, where they obtained an MD degree in Medicine from 2001 to 2010. During this time, they also earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the same institution, from 2003 to 2009.
