Mechanical Design Engineer at VisionGate

Nate Evans has been working in the field of Bioinformatics and Computational Biomedicine since 2018 as a PhD student at Oregon Health & Science University. Prior to that, they were a Mechanical Design Engineer at VisionGate, Inc. from 2013 to 2018, where they worked to develop and optimize a Lung Cancer screening device known as the Cell-CT. Nate's role included database software development, auxiliary device design and manufacturing for use in sample preparation and longevity procedures, custom automated microscope implementation and python development of image processing for silicon wafer detection. Nate's role prior to that was as a Mechanical Engineer Intern at VisionGate, Inc. from 2012 to 2013, where they worked to optimize the automation and efficiency of the Cell-CT system to increase the number of cells imaged per hour. Before that, they were a Deck Hand at Michael Palmgren from 2012 to 2012, and a Coach at Arena Sports from 2012 to 2012.

Nate Evans began their education at Squalicum High School, graduating in 2010. Nate then attended the University of Washington, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics: Biological in 2015. In 2018, they began pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biomedical Informatics: Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Oregon Health & Science University, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
