Michal Alter

Co-Founder & CEO at Visit.org

With more than 15 years of experience working in technology and social development, Michal founded Visit.org to connect corporations and their employees to causes they care about. Fueled by a passion for driving meaningful growth in people and organizations, Michal has dedicated her background in tech to helping companies and their employees make a difference in the social impact space with an eye toward ESG strategy and performance. With Visit.org, HR, CSR, and DEIB leaders at enterprise companies build annual itineraries that offer their employees virtual, in-person or hybrid volunteering and team building experiences that create authentic engagement and make the world a better place.

As one of the first female pilot cadets in the Israeli Air Force and a Computer Science Engineer, Michal worked in Israel’s thriving tech industry as a systems architect at Nuance Communications Inc. (NUAN) and Risk Modules Ltd. Michal’s experience in social development began while she was Director of Refugee Affairs at the City Government in Tel Aviv, where she led social service delivery and programming to serve 20,000 refugees from Darfur, South Sudan, and Eritrea. After relocating to New York and prior to founding Visit.org, Michal consulted with various leading nonprofit organizations, including New York Cares, Solar One, UNESCO, and Women’s World Banking.

Michal holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Tel Aviv University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). She speaks English, Spanish, and Hebrew.

Michal resides in Harlem with her two children.
