Arran Essex has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years in the media industry. Arran started their career at DELUXE 142 LTD as a Runner/VT Assistant, gaining an understanding of the industry and performing basic tasks. Arran then became a VT Operator, developing extensive knowledge of HD and SD formats and broadcast specifications. Moving on to MX1, Arran worked as a Media Operator, performing various roles including tape duplication, file ingest, and transcode, and foreign language reversioning for Disney. Arran was also responsible for full mastering and Harding checks. As a VT Supervisor at MX1, Arran took on additional responsibilities such as project management, client communications, and organizing corporate events, as well as testing and implementing new workflows. Currently, Arran is the Head of Mastering and Re-versioning Lead at Visual Data Media Services, where they manage a team and works primarily with The Walt Disney Company, Sony Pictures, Turner, BBC Premium content, Beta Film, Fremantle, and BBFC. Their department has tier 1 security clearance to work on unbroadcasted or unreleased content and offers services including full broadcast QC. Overall, Arran's work experience demonstrates their expertise in mastering, re-versioning, project management, and client communication in the media industry.
Arran Essex attended Blenhiem High School from 1997 to 2002, where they pursued GCSE's. Later, in 2004, they joined Guildford College and studied Communication and Media Studies there for a year, until 2005.
