Jason Downing

Jason Downing has a diverse work experience in the gaming and entertainment industry. Jason is currently the Studio Director at Fractal Blue Entertainment, a subsidiary of Visual Purple Inc., where they oversee the development and production of game titles and leads a team of developers and designers.

Previously, they worked as the Studio Director at Visual Purple Inc. from 2010 to 2018. In this role, Jason was responsible for managing the development and production of games, training titles, and video projects. Jason also served as the primary Instructional Designer and Game Designer, turning client needs into engaging gameplay-driven training products. Jason mentored and developed various roles within the studio and built relationships with vendors and stakeholders.

Additionally, Jason has experience as the Manager of Simulation Projects at Visual Purple, where they managed game designers, programmers, artists, animators, and QA team members. Jason also facilitated communication between teams and interacted with clients. Before that, they held the position of Production Manager at Visual Purple, where they directed production teams and created game-ready assets.

Outside of Visual Purple, Jason has owned a company called Illusionary Depths since 2015. Jason also worked as an Instructor at Allan Hancock College from 2010 to 2017 and had previous roles as a Render Wrangler and Stereoscopic camera setup at CafeFX.

Early in their career, Jason worked as a 3D Modeler/Texture Artist and intern at Visual Purple LLC, gaining hands-on experience in those areas.

Throughout their career, Jason has consistently demonstrated their ability to lead teams, manage resources, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Jason is skilled in various aspects of game development, including game design, animation, modeling, texturing, rigging, and cinematics.

Jason Downing began their education at Cuesta College, where they obtained two associates degrees in General Studies and Transfer Studies from 2003 to 2005. Jason then attended Allan Hancock Community College from 2006 to 2007, earning an Associate of Science degree in 3D Computer Animation. Finally, from 2007 to 2009, Jason attended California State University, Fullerton, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Entertainment Art/Animation.
