Yang Cai has a strong background in technology and leadership roles. Yang co-founded VisualOn, a multimedia solution provider, and served as the Co-Founder, President, and CEO for the company from June 2003 to December 2013. During this time, Yang led the company through various transformations and grew it to over 100 employees with multiple international offices. Yang then took on the role of Chairman of the Board and President & CEO at VisualOn from January 2014 to present, where they set the strategic direction of the company and drove the development of a cross-platform media player solution.

Prior to VisualOn, Yang worked at MedioStream as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Member of the Board of Directors from November 1998 to June 2003. Here, they designed and implemented the industry's first real-time software MPEG-2 encoder. Yang also worked at Tera Systems as a Member of Technical Staff from August 1997 to October 1998, where they co-architected the backend of a design planning tool for RTL design.

Yang's early career includes working at Avant! Corp. (originally ArcSys, Inc.) as a Founding Member of Technical Staff, Principal Engineer, and Engineering Manager from February 1992 to August 1997. Here, they were responsible for various projects related to routing and floorplan optimization, and they played a key role in developing the company's place and route system, ArcCell.

Yang Cai has a strong educational background in computer science. Yang obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science & Technology from Peking University, where they studied from 1981 to 1985. Yang then pursued their Master's Degree in Computer Science at The University of Kansas from 1987 to 1989. Continuing their academic journey, they attended The University of Texas at Austin, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from 1989 to 1992.
