Andrew Needles

Andrew Needles, MBA has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Andrew started their career as a Site Inspector at The Sernas Group in 1998 before becoming an Electrical Engineer Intern at JDS Uniphase (now Viavi) in 2000. At JDS Uniphase, they designed and tested software and hardware for mechanical production systems.

In 2002, Andrew joined Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as a Research Engineer. During their time there, they worked on interdisciplinary projects focused on quantifying blood flow using Doppler ultrasound and ultrasound microbubble contrast agents.

Andrew then moved on to FUJIFILM VisualSonics, Inc. in 2007 and held several roles within the company. Andrew started as an Ultrasound Systems Developer, where they developed signal and image processing software algorithms for high-frequency ultrasound imaging. Andrew also played a role in FDA compliance preparation. Andrew later became a Product Manager, gathering and communicating product requirements and setting pricing and margins for ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging products. Andrew then held the position of Senior Manager of Product Innovation, responsible for management and marketing of all VisualSonics product lines and successfully launching two new ultrasound imaging systems. Eventually, they became the Director of Marketing & Product Management, overseeing the entire product portfolio and leading a team of product and marketing managers. Currently, Andrew is the Director of Product Innovation, leading the product, technology, and innovation roadmap for FUJIFILM VisualSonics.

Throughout their career, Andrew has demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and a strong understanding of product development and marketing in the medical technology industry.

Andrew Needles, MBA has a strong educational background in electrical engineering and business. Andrew obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. To further enhance their business acumen, Andrew pursued an MBA in Global Executive from the prestigious University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, completing the program from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in the Executive Presence Program from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, which was achieved in February 2021.
