Vital Roots Foundation is a veteran-led nonprofit based in Brea, California, dedicated to cultivating healing, purpose, and community connection for U.S. veterans through nature-based programs, peer support, and community service.

We believe that time in nature, meaningful work, and connection with others can help veterans reconnect with themselves, their communities, and a renewed sense of purpose after service.

Our programs include Coffee in the Garden, a weekly gathering where veterans and community members connect in a relaxed garden setting; Nature and Reach, our hands-on outreach program using seed starting kits, aromatherapy, and other nature-based wellness activities; and Operation Fruitful City, our effort to transform underutilized urban spaces into regenerative community food systems led by veterans.

Through gardens, workshops, outreach events, and community partnerships, Vital Roots Foundation creates opportunities for veterans to learn, serve, grow, and heal alongside others.

We partner with schools, churches, veteran organizations, cities, businesses, and community groups to bring nature-based support and hands-on programming to veterans and their families.

Healing. Purpose. Community.
