Derek Lo is an experienced engineering manager specializing in spatial understanding for XR products at vivo since October 2022. Previously, Derek served as a senior research engineer at Lenovo, focusing on incremental dense semantic mapping and mobile AR applications from November 2017 to October 2022. Prior to this, Derek worked as a computer vision algorithm engineer at ULSee Inc. and HTC, where responsibilities included 3D face reconstruction and real-time surface tracking for mixed reality. Derek also held a role as a control algorithm engineer at HTC, concentrating on safe robotic motion planning. Earlier in the career, Derek co-founded Mars App Studio. Derek holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University, earned between 2009 and 2016.
