VolunteerCleanup.Org engages volunteers to cleanup their neighborhoods, shorelines, and waterways as a way to raise awareness about marine debris and encourage people to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics. 

We have 3 primary projects: 
1) www.VolunteerCleanup.Org - Our website is a free event management platform that connects people organizing cleanups with volunteers looking to participate. Our strategy is to build a grassroots movement against marine debris by helping facilitate educational and impactful shoreline, waterway and neighborhood cleanups.  We know that cleanups are not the solution, but do provide an eye-opening experience where volunteers see the severity of the marine debris problem first-hand, inspiring action and advocacy.

2) International Coastal Cleanup Day - Spearheaded globally by the Ocean Conservancy, VolunteerCleanup.org organizes Miami-Dade
County’s local participation in this worldwide event with 70+ shoreline cleanups around the county. In 2024, we celebrated our 10th year hosting this event where 3615 volunteers removed 25,082 pounds of trash from 71 locations all across Miami-Dade County. 

3) Corporate Days of Service - We provide turn-key service activities for companies looking for fun and impactful team building and marketing experiences. Great for off-site meetings, these events can be located at a variety of beaches, shorelines or waterways, and can be paired with kayaks, yoga/stretching, or a nice picnic lunch. Originally designed to fund our free community programs, we quickly discovered the greater impact that these cleanups can have within a business environment. Companies produce the products we consume, and their packaging choices determine the volume of waste created. As a result of attending these service days, numerous clients have reported back significant reductions in single-us plastics within their operations.
