Jahd Khalil is an experienced reporter currently covering state government for VPM since August 2022. Previously, Jahd worked as a producer for WVTF & Virginia Public Radio, focusing on state government and public interest stories from February 2021 to February 2022. A bilingual print and radio journalist, Jahd operated as a freelancer from June 2011 to February 2021, based in Richmond, VA, after spending seven years in Cairo, Egypt. Notable work includes an 11th Hour Food and Farming Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Middle East Fellowship with The GroundTruth Project, which resulted in a 27-minute audio documentary. Jahd co-founded Mada Masr, Egypt’s independent bilingual news source, and held various editorial and production roles in prominent media outlets, including Egypt Independent and the Los Angeles Times. Jahd holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Middlebury College and studied Arabic at Alexandria University.
