Malcolm Cooper

Malcolm Cooper has extensive experience in the testing, inspection, and certification sector, particularly in the maritime and oil and gas industries. Malcolm started their career as a Chemist at Technical Scientific Services - National Coal Board in 1979. Malcolm then worked at BP as a Chemist and Technical Support Manager before becoming a Lab Manager and Change Manager. Cooper later joined the Environment Agency as the General Manager of the National Laboratory Service, where they focused on performance management and commercializing service delivery. Malcolm then served as the Chief Executive of ENTRUST, a private not-for-profit company regulating a government tax credit scheme. Cooper also worked as the Managing Director of Thomson Praxis, a consultancy specializing in environmental regulation and greenhouse gas emissions. Malcolm then joined SGS as a Business Manager and later as the Global Operational Excellence Manager. Currently, Cooper holds multiple roles at VPS, including Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director, where they lead a global network of offices and laboratories and delivers solutions for fuel management, operational efficiency, and compliance with marine fuel regulatory requirements.

Malcolm Cooper pursued their education at Nottingham Trent University. Malcolm first completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons) 1st degree in Applied Chemistry, from 1983 to 1986. Malcolm then went on to earn a PhD in Chemistry from the same university, studying from 1986 to 1991.
