Els Roovers

Els Roovers is the Head of Entertainment & Formats at VRT, focusing on content strategy and commissioning for both linear channels and VOD since 2019. They have a diverse background in creative content development that spans from roles as a researcher at De Televisiefabriek to showrunner and editor at Woestijnvis. Currently, Els serves on the steering committee of Prix Europa and is a member of the international board for INPUT, advocating for strong public broadcasting and media credibility. They also contribute to the European Broadcasting Union's Format Core Group, engaging in strategic discussions about format development in the evolving media landscape. Els studied visual and architectural design at RIKSO and holds a Master’s degree in Africa, Australia, and Antwerp from the School of Life.
