Robert Torka

Director Business Development Europe at VyantBio

Robert Torka has extensive work experience in various roles within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Robert is currently working for Vyant Bio as the Director of Business Development for Europe. In this role, they utilize innovative bioengineering technologies and data science to advance therapeutic programs and identify viable drug candidates. Prior to this, they held the position of Business Development Specialist at VivoPharm/Vyant Bio, where they focused on drug discovery and utilized microOrgan technology for high-throughput drug screening. Robert also has experience in category management and business development at nimax GmbH. Robert has a strong background in academia, having worked as a lecturer and group leader in signal transduction at The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and as a project manager and group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. Additionally, they have held roles in application specialist and postdoctoral researcher positions at Olympus Soft Imaging Solutions and the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, respectively. Robert began their career as a research assistant at Bayer Health Care AG/Institute of Cell Biology University of Bonn and later served as the head of laboratory at the Institute of Pathology and Cytology, Bonn. Throughout their career, they have gained expertise in preclinical small molecule development, high-content screening, and molecular biology.

Robert Torka obtained their Diplom Biology degree from The University of Bonn between 1994 and 2000. During this time, their field of study focused on comparative investigations of water beetle zoenoses in the nature preservation and military training. Following this, they pursued a doctoral degree in Cell Biology at The University of Bonn from 2002 to 2006. Robert'sresearch during this period involved cell biological analysis of mechanics and regulation of migration and invasion strategies in breast cancer.
