André Strobel

André Strobel has extensive work experience in the automotive industry, specializing in safety engineering, systems engineering, and product validation engineering. André is currently the Director of Safety Engineering at Waabi since March 2023. Prior to that, from September 2019 to March 2023, they worked at Waymo as the Systems Engineering Lead for Trucking.

Before their role at Waymo, André held various positions at Daimler Trucks North America, starting in July 2014 as the Director of Product Validation Engineering, specializing in digital prototypes and wind tunnel testing. From May 2011 to June 2014, they served as the (Senior) Manager of Vehicle Analysis, focusing on virtual analysis and establishing a high-performance computing infrastructure.

Earlier in their career, André worked at Daimler AG from February 2008 to May 2011, leading a team of analysis engineers in vehicle fluid dynamics for commercial vehicles. André also worked as a project leader for 3D thermal comfort from January 2005 to January 2008.

At DaimlerChrysler, André started as a research engineer from March 2002 to December 2004, developing control algorithms for automatic climate control systems. André also worked as a PhD student from September 1999 to March 2002, focusing on climate comfort simulation and concepts.

André began their career as an intern at Daimler-Benz RTNA, Vehicle Systems Technology Center from July 1998 to December 1998.

André Strobel's education history begins with their high school education at Schelztor-Gymnasium, which they completed from 1984 to 1994. Following this, they attended the University of Stuttgart to pursue a Diploma in Technical Cybernetics, with a focus on Aerospace Engineering, from 1994 to 1999.

After their undergraduate studies, André Strobel continued their education at the University of Stuttgart, where they obtained a Dr.-Ing. (comparable to a PhD) in Automatic climate comfort control for passenger vehicles from 1999 to 2008.

In 2003, they pursued further education at Erfolg durch betriebswirtschaftliche Weiterbildung GbR (EBW), where they completed a Betriebswirt (EBW) degree in BEST – Betriebswirtschaftliches Ergänzungsstudium (Business Administration) from 2003 to 2005.

More recently, André Strobel enrolled in Udacity in 2018 and completed a Nanodegree in Self-Driving Car Engineering in 2019.

In addition to their formal education, André Strobel has obtained additional certifications. In March 2019, they received a certification in Developing Executive Presence from LinkedIn. Prior to that, in November 2018, they obtained the DASA DevOps Fundamentals certification from APMG International.
