In 1953, Bill Wagner left Paris, Tennessee with hopes of following in his father’s footsteps by opening his own shoe store. Bill's dream was realized in Tuscaloosa, Alabama when he purchased an existing footwear store Downtown; where he oversaw the store's workings, its employees, and day-to-day operations.

A few years later, Bill opened Wagner’s Shoes in the McFarland Mall of Tuscaloosa, which remained open for many years. Tommy Wagner, Bill’s son, was raised to be well-trained in the business. He took over the store upon Bill’s retirement and brought his son, Matt Wagner, up in the same way.

Today, Matt, the fourth generation Wagner, is the head of Wagner’s Shoes Incorporated. While we share the same name and values as the original Wagner’s Shoes, much has changed. We have three storefronts: Wagner’s Shoes for Kids, Wagner’s Runwalk, and The Athletes Foot. The Wagner's also own Wagner’s Team Sports, your one stop shop for custom apparel and sports equipment.

At Wagner’s RunWalk, we strive to provide the best quality footwear in the latest trends, while still providing with the same old-fashion customer service given at the very first Wagner's store over 60 years ago.
