Mario Hemens

Mario Hemens has extensive work experience in the field of laboratory operations and management. Mario began their career in 1998 as a Senior MLT at the Children's Cancer Center. Mario then worked as an MLT at Lea Regional Hospital from 2005 to 2006. In 2008, they joined Dynacare Medical Laboratories as a Manager, where they stayed until 2017. During this time, they also worked as Manager of Laboratory Services at Whitehorse General Hospital from 2017 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021, Mario served as Manager of Laboratory Operations at LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services. Mario most recently worked as Manager of Laboratory Operations at Bio-Test/SwitchHealth from 2022 to 2023. Currently, they are the Director of Clinical Resources (Interim) at the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority.

Mario Hemens attended Dalhousie University from 1978 to 1980, but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. From 1980 to 1982, Mario Hemens attended the IWK Hospital For Children in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where they earned a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
