Al Forrest

Professor Al Forrest is the Associate Director (Scientific Strategy) and head of the Systems Biology and Genomics Lab at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research at the University of Western Australia. They have expertise in transcriptomics and are recognized as an early adopter of single-cell and spatial profiling in Australia. Previously, while at RIKEN Yokohama, they coordinated the FANTOM5 project, collaborating with over 250 researchers worldwide, leading to significant publications in top scientific journals. Since returning to Australia in 2015, they have played a pivotal role in establishing the Western Australian Cancer Single Cell Consortium and are currently focusing on analyzing the tumor microenvironment in relation to poor prognosis cancers.
