Sharon Brown is an experienced communication professional with a career spanning several decades. Currently serving as the Public Affairs Director for Wake County Government since 1999, Sharon also holds the position of Communications Director for Wake County Public Libraries. Prior experience includes roles as Communications Director for the International Executive Service Corps, where global marketing efforts were expanded, and Manager of Public Affairs at Battelle, where the first communications position was established in Washington, DC. Additionally, Sharon was a Vice President at Burson-Marsteller PR, managing multi-million-dollar accounts and public relations strategies for various high-profile clients. Earlier in the career, contributions were made as a Congressional Press Secretary and as an Assistant Section Editor and Feature Writer for The Fayetteville Observer. Sharon holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
