Billy Cantwell

Billy Cantwell has extensive experience in editorial roles, currently serving as Opinion Editor and previously as Deputy Opinion Editor at The Sydney Morning Herald since September 2019. Additional responsibilities at the publication include Locum Opinion Editor, Letters Editor, and Weekend Features Editor. Prior to this, Billy was the Publishing Editor for the Irish Echo Australia from 2019 to October 2020 and Editor of the North Shore Times under News Corp Australia from 2015 to 2019. Billy co-founded the Irish Echo Australia in 1988, establishing the longest-running Irish newspaper in Australia. Educational qualifications include a degree in Communications from Technological University Dublin.
