Nick Ralston has extensive experience in journalism, currently serving as Investigations Editor at The Sydney Morning Herald since December 2009. Ralston has held various roles within the publication, including Journalist, News Editor, and Crime Editor for both The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun Herald. In addition to this, Ralston held the position of World Editor for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age from July 2022 to March 2025. Prior to joining The Sydney Morning Herald, Ralston was the NSW Political Reporter at the Australian Associated Press from April 2007 to December 2009. Ralston earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Journalism) from Charles Sturt University between 2001 and 2003.
