Matthew Nelson

Matthew Nelson is currently the Director of Energy Policy at Walmart, a position they began in 2023. Their previous roles include serving as the Director of Government Affairs at Electrify America from 2017 to 2023 and a Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Energy from 2014 to 2017. Matthew has extensive experience in government and energy policy, having worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the U.S. Senate and a Legislative Assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives. They earned a BA in History and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College and a Master's in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University.
